Our office recommends Frontline and Revolution for flea and tick prevention.  Advantage is useful when only fleas are a concern, such as with indoor cats.  We strongly advise you to avoid over the counter flea and tick preventatives, which typically contain chemicals called permethrins.  These are synthetic insecticides that can cause seizures and liver damage in our pets (cats are particularly sensitive to permethrins).
